Buspirone
Buspirone is an anti-depressant, anti-anxiety
psychotropic drug with 'anxiolytic' properties which belongs chemically
to the class of compounds known as the azaspirodecanediones. The
drug helps in reducing fear, anxiety and tension that arise in people
psychologically.
HOW BUSPIRONE WORKS?
Buspirone helps in balancing the chemical reaction in the brain
that causes anxiety and fear.
BUSPIRONE CONSUPTION
Buspirone can be taken with food or milk, whichever suits
you best. Make sure that you take this medicine exactly as prescribed
by the physician. Never increase or decrease the dosage on your own.
You need to take proper medical advice from the doctor. The improvement
in symptoms begins within 7 to 10 days of starting this medication.
It may take up to 3-4 weeks for the medication to take its full effect.
BUSPIRONE SIDE EFFECTS
There are some side effects that may arise during Buspirone
medication. Users may encounter drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness,
fatigue, weakness, vivid dreams, sleeplessness, dry skin, blurred
vision, altered sense of taste and smell, weight gain, muscle aches,
ringing in the ears, nausea and headaches amongst other symptoms.
If the side effects remain or worsen, immediately notify your doctor. Symptoms
like abnormal movements or "twitches" of the face or neck muscles,
other involuntary movements or tremors, depression, confusion, lack of coordination,
chest pain and breathing difficulties should be immediately reported to the
doctor.
BUSPIRONE DRUG INTERACTION
If you are already continuing some previous medication and
want to take the help of Buspirone, you need to consult your doctor.
Several other drugs may counter-react when used with Buspirone. Drug
categories like anti-anxiety or anti-depressants, MAOIs, azole or
macrolide antibiotics, haloperidol, narcotic pain medications etc
may be unsafe if you are consuming Buspirone. Do not eat grapefruit
or drink grapefruit juice unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.
Never start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
BUSPIRONE PRECAUTIONS
Take necessary precautions as suggested by your doctor.
Alcohol and tobacco consumption should be minimized during the medication.
Moreover do not undertake activities that need immense concentration
like driving or using machinery immediately after Buspirone consumption.
It could be very fatal.
BUSPIRONE OVERDOSE
There are chances of overdose whenever the patient accidentally
or intentionally takes excessive amount of Buspirone. It can be very
critical condition. If you happen to find the patient in unconscious
state - there are all possible chances of the overdose.
You need to take immediate action whenever Buspirone overdose
condition arises. Do not panic. Instead immediately contact the
local poison control center and ask for immediate help. In case
you are do not able to get in touch with poison control center,
call the emergency room and ask for ambulance.
BUSPIRONE STORAGE
Keep Buspirone at normal room temperature. Exposure to heat,
light and dust may hamper the quality of drug. Moreover ensure that
there is no moisture around the drug.
Keep Buspirone away from the reach of children. And never store
in bathroom. Places like cupboard, drawer etc is ideal for its storage.
